Sock filters prolong the life of pumps and other asphalt plant equipment by cleaning debris from heavy fuel oil in fuel lines. Sock filters are most commonly situated in the fill piping to fuel tanks. This arrangement allows the sock filter to clean debris from the fuel as it is pumped from the supply truck. This prevents large debris from entering the fuel tank, helping protect other system components such as the fuel preheater, fuel pump, and burner for the aggregate dryer.
Heatec offers sock filter containment systems that help greatly when it's time to replace filters. The system includes a sock filter and raised containment vessel with hinged cover and drain. The system collects liquid and debris during filter changes, preventing envrionmental spills. The drain in the bottom of the containment vessel facilitates collection of liquids for proper disposal.
Sock filters also serve an important function in hot oil lines by filtering debris from thermal fluid (hot oil). This prolongs the life of thermal fluid in the heating system and protects circulating pumps and other system components.
